Johnston ES Principal Lori Etheridge
Why did you choose to become a Principal?
I chose to become a principal to have a positive impact on a larger group of students. As a teacher, I loved watching each of my students learn and grow. I enjoyed supporting their academic, social, and emotional needs, and I was delighted to celebrate with them when a goal was met! As an administrator, I feel that my support is amplified. By working with all stakeholders to build positive relationships, support an atmosphere of care and trust, and ensure high-quality teaching, my work can have a positive impact on a much larger group of students, teachers, and families.
What inspires you in your work as a Principal?
I am inspired by my students! Every hug or smile reminds me that I have the best job in the world! When I start to feel bogged down with administrative tasks, I walk the halls and visit classrooms. It is so rewarding to see the quality work happening every day in Cherokee County classrooms, and it is inspiring to watch our students accomplish great things!
How are you Elevating the Excellence in your school?
At Johnston, we are Elevating the Excellence by providing rigorous instruction that is scaffolded and differentiated to meet the needs of each individual student. I support this excellence by ensuring a safe and welcoming learning environment, encouraging the support of our community, and making sure our teachers have what they need to be successful.
